Chapter 5: Working with Media
Adding Media
Media includes mp3s, image files such as a .pdf or .jpg, documents, vdieo, etc.
- Go to Media -> Media
- Select the "add" link
- Complete all fields
- Use the browse to find the file on your network
- "Audio Optimize" and "Video Convert" -mp3s are automatically optimized at a 24mhz rate to be streamed online.
- Select "Upload"
Note: When creating a page and selecting images, a list of all images will appear. It is recommended that the name on the name on the image is clear. For example, a picture of a city to be used as a header image with a specific pixel requirement ought to be labeled "Header: City Skyline".
Bulk Upload
Adding Media in Bulk
- Go to Media -> Media
- Select the "bulk" link
- A bulk folder must be set up for the account
- Monk can set up a bulk folder for free by selecting "click here" link
- Once set, use your favorite FTP client to ftp to ftp.monkcms.com
- You can upload all media types, including Zip files
Adding Galleries
After the photos have been loaded in the Media module:
- Go to Galleries
- Select "Add Gallery"
- Give the Gallery a name and description
- Select any groups as appropriate
- Select Create
- Select "Show in Gallery Page"
- Your new Gallery will now appear on the listing of Galleries.
- Select the Gallery by clicking on the pencil icon
- Every image that has been loaded in Media will appear in the Image Library.
- Click on image to add to your Gallery
- The image will appear above the Image Library in the Gallery being created
- Click on an image for the gallery and tools will appear that can be used to change the order of the photos
- An image can also be linked to another page by selecting the link window
- More Options permits certain groups to view the gallery
- Once complete, select done.
To have your link go to the Main Photo Gallery on the website with all galleries:
- Go to Content > Pages
- Select the page you wish the Gallery to appear
- Select the pencil icon to edit the page
- Create the wording for your link, such as "Click here to view photos".
- Highlight the text you want as the link.
- Select the chain icon
- Select the page "Photo Gallery"
- Select insert
- Save the page
- Use the magnifying glass to view the page
