Chapter 5: Working with Media

Adding Media

Media includes mp3s, image files such as a .pdf or .jpg, documents, vdieo, etc.

  1. Go to Media -> Media
  2. Select the "add" link
  3. Complete all fields
  4. Use the browse to find the file on your network
  5. "Audio Optimize" and "Video Convert" -mp3s are automatically optimized at a 24mhz rate to be streamed online.  
  6. Select "Upload"

Note: When creating a page and selecting images, a list of all images will appear. It is recommended that the name on the name on the image is clear. For example, a picture of a city to be used as a header image with a specific pixel requirement ought to be labeled "Header: City Skyline". 

Bulk Upload

Adding Media in Bulk

  1. Go to Media -> Media
  2. Select the "bulk" link
  3. A bulk folder must be set up for the account
  4. Monk can set up a bulk folder for free by selecting "click here" link
  5. Once set, use your favorite FTP client to ftp to ftp.monkcms.com
  6. You can upload all media types, including Zip files

Adding Galleries

After the photos have been loaded in the Media module:

  1. Go to Galleries
  2. Select "Add Gallery"
  3. Give the Gallery a name and description
  4. Select any groups as appropriate
  5. Select Create
  6. Select "Show in Gallery Page"
  7. Your new Gallery will now appear on the listing of Galleries.
  8. Select the Gallery by clicking on the pencil icon
  9. Every image that has been loaded in Media will appear in the Image Library.
  10. Click on image to add to your Gallery
  11. The image will appear above the Image Library in the Gallery being created
  12. Click on an image for the gallery and tools will appear that can be used to change the order of the photos
  13. An image can also be linked to another page by selecting the link window
  14. More Options permits certain groups to view the gallery
  15. Once complete, select done.

To have your link go to the Main Photo Gallery on the website with all galleries:

  1. Go to Content > Pages
  2. Select the page you wish the Gallery to appear 
  3. Select the pencil icon to edit the page
  4. Create the wording for your link, such as "Click here to view photos". 
  5. Highlight the text you want as the link. 
  6. Select the chain icon
  7. Select the page "Photo Gallery" 
  8. Select insert 
  9. Save the page 
  10. Use the magnifying glass to view the page
