Media
List View
- Find: Begin typing the name of the content you would like to find and the system will perform a search. NOTE: Do not click the enter key as you type. This will remove the Search terms.
- Sort Function: When scrolling over the top of the list, the Heading turns dark and an Arrow appears next to the Heading. Once you see the Arrow, simply click the Heading to Sort the List in alpha-numeric order. Click again for a reverse order of the list.
- Edit Selected: To change the Publish Status or to Delete selected items, click the check boxes to the left of each item. When the boxes are checked, the "Edit Selected" button will turn on next to the Add button. Click "Edit Selected" to change Status or Delete.
- Edit Content: To edit your content, click the underlined words that are in a different color. When scrolling over the words, a pencil icon will appear and the row will change to a light orange.
- Preview: Will show a thumbnail of images and let you playback audio and video item.
- Status: Reports if the media item was successfully transfered to your site. If the media item was deleted from your site or was not transfered, clicking 'update' will resend the item. Clicking 'Add All' will resend all media items, this should only be clicked when absolutely needed as it can consume a great deal of bandwidth.
- Filter: This list can be filtered by media type.
Add a New Media Item
- Name: This is important as the file is renamed based on this. For instance, a jpg image named "Home Page Banner" would be renamed "home-page-banner.jpg".
- Description: This can help a great deal in differentiating different media, especially when there are a lot of media items.
- Keywords: These can help organize and classify media.
- File: You can either upload a file from your computer, or enter the URL of a media item on another server. There is no hard cap on file size, but depending on your connection, uploads will work under 50 to 150 mb. A new file can be uploaded later to replace the original.
- Audio Optimize: Keep this checked if you want the system to optimize your MP3 file. Leaving this checked converts the file from Stereo to Mono and reduces the file size for optimal streaming and podcast downloads.
- Image Resize: This only pertains to image files and will resize your image to a more web-friendly 400px wide.
- Video Convert: Keep this checked if you want your video file to be converted to Flash for streaming on your website. Click here to read: All About Video (an Article explaining the video formats that work with our system).
Add Media in Bulk
If you have a large number of files to upload or files that are large in size (larger than 50mb or so), you may want to upload them all at once through FTP.
Navigate to Media → Manage Media → Bulk and request a Bulk Media Account. The system will provide you with a username & password within 24 hours for FTP access.
Using an FTP application (Filezilla for Windows & Cyberduck for Mac are some good free options) and the FTP login credentials, upload as many files as you need. Refresh the bulk screen upon upload completion and you should see all your files listed.
Once they have been uploaded, enter the names for the files you would like to bring into the media manager, set any options and click 'Import Files'.
A few notes:
- Only files whose names has been specified will be uploaded.
- Zip files can be imported as is, or unzipped and each file imported individually.
